I bought a whole load of books last Wednesday to take advantage of the 20% discount for members. One of the books I bought is a book by a local author by the name of Lydia Teh. I am sure you have heard of her, right?
I have enjoyed her previous book, Honk! If You're Malaysian. It was one of the most entertaining books I have ever read! There were lots and lots of jokes on the Malaysian habits and way of life and I found them totally hilarious!
As such, I did not hesitate to get her latest book called Do You Wear Suspenders - The Wordy Tales of Eh Poh Nim. Well, the title already caught me there! How could I not get the book?
Here's the trailer for you to enjoy.
In conjunction with the release of the book, Lydia came out with a contest. Anyone can join and all you need to do is to put up this trailer on your blog and leave a comment at Lydia's blog with a link to your post. The contest ends on 20th March 2009 so hurry if you are interested! Visit Lydia's blog, Life's Like That for more details on the contest and the prizes on offer.
Today's post is rather short, isn't it? Well, that's because I can't wait to log off and immerse myself in the world of Eh Poh Nim!
She used to write for The Star, right? Love her columns, esp the Eh Po Nim one. :-)
Whoa! Was I first? Cool!
Bookstores here...teachers can get 10-15% discount on books anytime. The only thing is the selections VERY limited, unlike at MPH. But we can get Lydia's books...not problem!!!
So are you going to blog about funny Malaysian habits? I remember a similar forwarded email titled "You're a Filipino If..." It's funny and so true.
Btw Foong, am still thinking of what souvenir to ask. I have no idea really. LOL Maybe some kind of authentic Malaysian item?
Reading bloggers roxx
Kclau, Chedet, Marina Mahathir, Zulkifli musa and other bloggers already published thier books and did quite well.
Now some bloggers like kruel legalcat and me are writing books. I hope mine will sell well :P
I could do with a couple of new books. I've reread mine so many times I know the storied by heart! LOL!

day-dreamer, panda is the word verification? LOL!!
Foong, thanks for putting up the trailer. Appreciate it. Guys, thanks for the support. I still write Eh Poh Nim for Star Two but it comes out once or twice a month only.

life ramblings, oh, if you enjoy her columns in The Star, you must check out her book especially "Honk! If You're Malaysian" It's a gem of a book! : )
Eh, I was also at MPH here on Wednesday and spent at least RM300 on books!
Call me a fiction book snob but I seldom read non-fiction.
Heck, reading the fiction that pretends to be non-fiction on the news each day is enough of non-fiction for me leh.
Still....there are exceptions. Have not read Lydia Teh but Amir Muhammad's compilation of 'Politicians say the darnest things' are damn good. Sure makes you laugh non-stop!
~the fiction bookworm female Foong~
Hi Foongpc, I just back from a short trip.:)
I hope we can have good book that kind about chinese. There are always many many books on sale, But I feel hard to find a really good one.
Wow! Can't believe it.. Lydia Teh dropped by here!
first time i heard of her. will check the local library for her book
Hehe I also posted her video.
I heard of her from another Malaysian blogger. I wonder if her book is sold in Singapore. I'll check on my next visit to the bookshop.
foong speaks her mind, the news is actually fiction pretending to be non-fiction? Haha! That's hilarious!
Oh, yes! I have read Amir Muhammad's book but not entirely. Just read it in MPH when I have nothing to do. Didn't buy the book. Hehe. Is this book your source of inspiration for your blog? Haha!
iWalk, yes would be interesting to have a book making fun of Chinese people and Chinese habits and way of life in China! I would love to read such a book! Maybe you should write one! : )
AsX, better believe it! LOL! Thanks for dropping by yourself! : )
bengbeng, first time? Oh! You must check out her book, especially "Honk! If You're Malaysian". Totally enjoyable book! : )
JL, oh did you? Hope you win! : )
eastcoastlife, I'm sure her books are sold in Singapore. But if not, you can always order it online, I think. Or just make a short visit to Johor and you should have no problem finding her books.
I recommend "Honk! If You're Malaysian." I wonder if any writer in Singapore will come out with similar books about Singaporeans? Would be fun to read! : )
