Anyway, who cares what I ate today, right? But I just wanted to share some of the delicious food I happened to eat today. Actually they are more like snacks than real solid food.
Do you like egg tarts? My brother bought these yummy egg tarts from Tong Kee. They were so delicious! Soft and smooth is how I describe them!
Besides egg tarts, he also bought "siew pao" from Tong Kee. These were really nice especially when they were still piping hot! I like these but not as much as the egg tarts!
What do you call this kueh? I forgot what it's called, but I love it! Bought it from the Section 17 PJ market.
A friend bought me this jellies from Q-Jelly in 1Utama. It looks so colourful, right? That's the problem - I was a little concerned with the colouring. I just took one and left the remaining ones uneaten.
Later in the night, I had this Hokkien fried noodles for dinner. Totally oily and unhealthy, but absolutely tasty!
After all these unhealthy food, what better food to help me detoxify than a bowl of gui ling gao from Koong Woh Tong?
OMG all my favorite !! BUt jelly not try before.
wah...u make me hungry niao :S
was the jelly nice. Had been thinking of buying the jelly cake for some time but like you, were put off by the colouring.
eat so much, had to burn that calorie!
You're making me hungry with all these food photos at this hour! :P
i like tong kee egg tarts but i don't know why their tarts have very strong smell... i suspect their oil has been re-used too many times.
You make me soooooooo hungry!
wah you also posting food
I love egg tarts, cheese tarts and seremban siew pao
yummmyyyyy!!!!!!
I love siew pow! It's been awhile since I last eat these pow! Ha =) Finally I'm here!
What a coincidence! My post today also on what I ate - over the weekend! LOL!!! Great minds think alike.
P.S. Eyew...Hokkien mee - looks like worms! Hahahahaha!!!
Wow, yeah, that is some serious coloring!!! :-D
Hehe
I would try those first ones when I will start eating wheat and egg again, lol.
:-)
The 3rd picture - we usually call it 'tai kau min'.
I used to make guilinggou for own consumption, but that's long time ago...
now that's a lot of varieties... if i do mine, it will be something like skipped breakfast and chicken rice for both lunch and dinner.
oh I love siew pao! :-D
Wow those foods look delicious! Like to try the egg tarts... not sure if I can get them here.
That jelly sure looked artificial so glad you took only one.
The peanut pancake is my favourite too plus the rest of the others..indulged once in a while it is ok :D
among all that you've eaten, i'm most interested in the egg tart n "siew pao". one of my favorite snacks. :D
My family loves egg tarts and we always get them when we go eat Dimsum. Are the siew pao the same as moon cakes?
so many good food! hey the hokkien noodles is with bee hoon? :)
Yummy food!!!
Tong Kee egg tarts are heavenly!!
That kueh which you forgot the name, I believe we call it "mijiam kueh" in Teochew (aiya JB got a lot of Teochew lol) or "apam" in Malay.
I so love the guiling gao. <3
You know, I haven't had my lunch yet and this post has just got my stomach growling like crazy ... LOL!
The egg tart looks delicious! Hokkien Mee too! Every time I am in KL, I will go to eat Hokkien Mee in Alor Street, haha!
this is enough!!! you are too much!! how could you show me all those lovely food when i am feeling hungry and nowhere to get them now?? i hate you!! hahaha~~ :p
Are you on diet? But those foods are fattening!!
sherry, haha! All nice except the jelly, so no need to try it : )
annant, sorry for that! Haha!
lina, the jelly is not nice, but I liked their mooncake jelly which I tried last year during the Mooncake Festival. Anyway, the colouring is scary, better not eat them!
Actually, those were not the only food I ate - they were more like snacks that I ate between my lunch and dinner! So talking about calories, that's why I had to go to the gym today! Haha!
mei teng, sorry about that and I don't know whether it's good or bad that you won't be able to find those food at those hours! haha!
renaye, I didn't notice any strong smell? I hope they did not re-use the oil cos it's unhealthy : (
day-dreamer, again sorry for making you hungry! : )
lisalicious, yes so yummy these food! : )
tekkaus, wow! So long didn't drop by! So busy meh? Yeah, the siew pao is delicious!! : )
suituapui, great minds do indeed think alike. Haha! The Hokkien mee looks like worms but it's very delicious worms. LOL!
leo, yes those colouring really puts me off! : ( You are staying away from eggs? Why?
khengsiong, I just learnt that it's called "kam tan kou" in Cantonese. You call it "tai kau min" - is that in Cantonese too? How come sound so different? Btw, how do you make your own gui ling gao?
nic, these food are just snacks for me which I ate in between my main meals. Haha! Such a big eater me! : )
Chicken rice for both lunch and dinner? Wow! Are you a big fan of chicken rice? I normally can't eat the same thing for both lunch and dinner. Need variety : )
monica, yeah they are so delicious especially when eaten hot! : )
rad, you should try the egg tarts, though not all egg tarts are equal. Tong Kee is one of the best but I think you won't be able to find it in Indonesia!
shionge, yes the jelly looks artificial and the colouring really puts me off! The peanut pancake is absolutely delicious. I guess once in a while is OK : )
levian, good choice! The egg tarts and siew pao are really good! : )
babette, oh you love egg tarts and dim sum too? Cool! Those siew pao is not the same as mooncakes. The siew pao are like dumplings but instead of steamed, they are baked, and they usually have pork fillings inside. You can check out the recipe here : )
quachee, yes! I mixed the noodles and beehoon together cos I like it that way! Haha!
angie tan, yes abolutely love Tong Kee tarts. Canton-i's egg tarts are good too! Have you tried?
JL, is that correct? I thought apam is different type of kueh? I think in Cantonese, this kueh is called "kam tan kou" but khengsiong called it differently, and you also gave a different name - now I'm totally confused!
nick phillips, sorry about that! Hope you had a good lunch today! Hehe
jam, they are indeed very delicious! Oh, Jalan Alor is a food haven! You went to the right place for food! : )
SK, haha! Since you are hungry and cannot go anywhere to get them, just pretend you are enjoying them in front of your computer lah : )
molly, what makes you think I'm on a diet? I have never been on a diet and never will! Haha!
One reason is, I'm not fat enough to warrant any form of dieting.
Second reason is, I don't believe in depriving myself! Haha!
Third reason is, I like to exercise, so if I eat more, I just exercise more to keep the balance in check. Hehe!
Btw, those food I mentioned were just snacks for the day in between my main meals. Now maybe I should seriously consider cutting down. LOL!
y so adventurous today? ppl like me r trying to control my food intake.. ppl like u are tempting ppl like me.. ppl like me hates ppl like u, ppl like u who have too high metabolic rate shudn't be allowed to EAT! hahahahhahaa.. i'm going nuts looking at all those food!
Eating so much food will make me fat!
I like traditional snacks but limit myself to only 2 each time. Have to watch the food I take because getting older lah. :P
The jelly looked very interesting to me. I never knew they could create such arts.
Looks like you can eat a hell lots of thing in a day! still exercising?
hello foong! thanks for dropping by there in my blog..

I definitely love the eggtarts and the gui ling gao!! But not the siew pao... i come from siew pao land... have had enough of those ady.
Oh, love the gui ling gao... haven't had it for ages though.
I heard so much about that Tong Kee's famous egg tarts. There is a guy I know who walks there to buy freshly baked egg tart every morning before he starts work. So good meh? I must try lah
Apam in Malay, "kam tan kou" in Cantonese (as you provided) and "mi jiam kueh" in Teochew. No confuse la, just dialects only lol. XD
It seems you must be very fit lor. I still struggling with my body sob sob~~
Oh, it's similar to Filipino Siopao but our's is steamed. It's my favorite too. Thanks for the link Foong.
They should be displayed in a china cabinett instead of being eaten ;)
i haven't taken my breakfast and you're making me hungry at this hour.
foongpc,
Ingredient of guilinggo can be purchased in shops that sell Chinese medicine. I bought if from the shop in Sun Complex, Bukit Bintang.
is tong kee a brand/shop name? too bad we don't have it here. usually just buy it from some old shops (compare to the new ones) which taste is awesome! :D
merryn, haha! Sorry about the temptation! : )
eastcoastlife, yes cannot eat too much as we get older and the metabolism slows down. So just eat a bit and exercise! : )
george, well they did! It looked nice, but I dared not eat too much due to the artificial colouring! : )
eiling, oh yes I'm quite a big eater! haha! And yes, still exercising. Have to lah, otherwise I'll be all rounded! Luckily, I love to exercise! : )
gagay, thanks for Following me! Really appreciate it! : )
pikey, where is siew pao land? Sounds like a haven for siew pao lovers! LOL!
neo, you should go get the gui ling gao for detox after enjoying yourself on the free snack plate at KFC. LOL!!
michi, yes it's that good! Go try it now! : )
JL, is 'apam' and 'apam balik' the same thing? What about those kueh I saw which is crunchy and filled with santan? Is that apam balik too?
babette, siew pao is your favourite too? Great! : )
leo, displayed in the cabinet? haha! Don't think it will last long! : )

Hey dude! You live in Sri Petaling izzit? I love that Egg Tart. What else is good?
Foong, I love egg tart so much!!!
twilight zone, why do you say I live in Sri Petaling? Oh, my brother bought the egg tarts from the Tong Kee shop in Sri Petaling but I don't stay there. I think I only like the egg tarts and siew pao from Tong Kee.

OMGosh! I totally, totally miss Tong Kee's egg tarts and siew pao. Gotta get some soon! LOL!
Hungry, egg time my oald time fav
@foongpc
Hmmm....don't know. Most probably related though.
Teacher STP give one more name for the kueh - "ban chian kueh" in Hokkien, very useful if you want to buy apam in Sibu or Penang oh~~ XD
zewt, haha. I don't think so too, but better than nothing : )
levian, oh you are from East Malaysia? Sabah or Sarawak?
happysurfer, yeah, go get some! : )
horizon, go get it, then! : )
JL, thanks! I guess different name in different dialects! : )
Can you make some for me please? :D
faisal, sorry lah. Don't know how to make egg tarts. Only know how to eat them. Haha!
Those are really delicious treats! I wish i could have some.
