I know some of you are waiting for Part 2 of my Lost In Xingping post - sorry about that! I shall post that once I'm free to do so. Thanks for your patience!
Today's post shall be another Random Notes so I'm calling it Random Notes 2 : )
1. I am planning to go for a 6-day holiday to Siem Reap, Cambodia with Jam and his friend next year from 29th July 2010 - 3rd August 2010. I am looking for a travel partner to share a room with me. Anyone interested?
Conditions as my travel partner are as follows:
- No pictures of me and Jam and his friend to be posted on blogs or anywhere online.
- Bring your own camera - no sharing of photos are allowed.
- I may snore, so if you can't stand my snoring, bring a ear plug! No complaints on my snoring allowed.
- Male preferably below 40 years old. Female below 35 years old and don't mind sharing same bed with me.
Honestly, females are welcome! Just that I will book a room with twin beds instead of a double bed. But if you insist on a double bed, then please send me your latest photo and I shall decide. LOL!
Of course, if you don't feel comfortable to be sleeping in the same room with me, then I am afraid you can't be my travel partner!
Now I'm not being ageist (as in sexist) when I limit the age. It's just that this is not going to be some relaxing, luxury holiday. We are going for some sort of backpacking travel just like what we did in Guilin, China. So you must be reasonably fit and not get tired easily.
Of course if you are over 50 but is still fit and can go backpacking and not let us wait for you every time, then you are most welcomed to join us!
2. Jam and his friend will be going straight to Redang Island after returning from Cambodia. They will stay for 3-4 days in Redang. I am not sure if I would be joining them. I will decide on this later.
3. I just signed up for Facebook. Yeah, you better believe it! I know I have said that I don't do Facebook, but I do sometimes contradict what I said! Of course, don't expect to see my photos on Facebook! Well, if you want to add me as a Friend, please do so here. But do let me know that you read about it here as I don't simply add anyone!
4. What? We Malaysians have to pay RM50 credit card tax every year? Even though I only have one card, I am so unwilling to pay this unnecessary tax! I call this daylight robbery! I hope the banks will absorb the RM50 tax!

FoongPc: u r really a natural writer with added humor here and there.. i like your style of writing.. too bad i cannot meet your requirements for the trip.. overaged, not so fit, light sleeper(will hv lack of sleep due to some "snoring"), like to travel in comfort rather than backpacking.. etc etc.. above all these, i think u r great company to be with! Hilarious and entertaining! Have a great weekend and smooth planning, hope u find a great partner too! hahahaa...

Have you ever thought of traveling alone, just as I did before? You'll have maximum freedom.
You have no idea of what snoring until you meet the master!
Some mornings, I wake up with a peg on my nose, I wonder who put that! (kidding)
You are planning way in advance! I never plan my holidays this early lest there be uncertainty.
No wonder your holidays are so much cheaper. Smart move!
HEhe,
I guess you are still single. That's y you still can be mobile. All the best in your next journey.
Gosh! Travelling next year only?! I'm with Shingo about not booking too far ahead but then again, the positive side is that you could get cheaper flights if you book early. Still, AirAsia is cheap all year round even as low as zero fare. No?
Travel documentaries often portray a spectacular Angkor Wat visit but friends of mine who have visited the place echo what SK said - once is quite enough. Be prepared for a lot of walking though.
you will book the room and pay for it, is it? and your travelling partner just SHARE your bed? guys and gals, what are we waiting for? sign me up, buddy! hahahaaha :)
About that RM50 credit card tax, I wonder if the card-issuers (banks mostly) knew about this beforehand. If so, they must be prepared for the reduction in revenue from cards with people cancelling all but one or two. Let's watch the repercussion..
I am approaching 70 and not to worry certified extremely healthy by my doctor as I'm going to be pregnant soon and what a great timing to travel and can get to fly free for life when my baby is born in the plane! Bingo:p
The trendy word [POTONG](cut)is very contagious, spreading like wild fire now and by 2010 think millions of credit cards would be 'POTONG-ed':(
I love the great idea of washing away all those dirt and dust from Cambodia in Redang. But I also am not sure Redang is my next destination after Cambodia. It can be Bangkok too! Still thinking...
I love Foong's idea of finding a travel partner. But if you are a guy, you can stay with Foong. A gal shall stay same room as me, haha!
Dun worry folk regarding the RM50 payment. I think bank will absorb it or else no one is going to apply credit card in the future!
"Honestly, females are welcome! Just that I will book a room with twin beds instead of a double bed. But if you insist on a double bed, then please send me your latest photo and I shall decide. LOL!"
Females must look like that lady mentioned in yesterday's STAR paper named Christy Yow. Tall order la! ;)
Yeah, I have only one card too and have to pay RM50. I will make the bank waive my annual fee and they cannot say no coz I am a very good paymaster.
we also have plans of going to cambodia but it will be earlier next year. hope u have a great time there. :)
i wish i could join lo...i have no kaching kaching T______________T
LOL so naughty la u wan to see pic first he he! :)
Adding u @ FB now yay! :)
wow u are already planning trips for next year?u and jam can share a room then let the friends share among themselves? :p
Ooooh sounds like a good time to travel! hehehe... I always agree on the no pictures of the blogger concept... but I wonder why people keep asking for my picture! Aiyar!
What is the budget of the whole trip like if I may know?
Backpacking... means need a huge bag ar? :P
I wonder which female would join you? Must let me know! hahaha.
Ya, I don't agree with the credit card RM50 "tax". I'm gonna cancel some of my cards if the bank doesn't absorb this cost.
War...you are going to Cambodia? have you asked your feng shui master or not?
Ok! I wanna join. LOL :D I'm darn fit don't worry Foong.
War...after that straight go Redang? Gilernya both of them. :) They are so energetic aye.
I know cause you have added me in Facebook mah! I have added you too bro. Now you can know more about me. Muahahaha :D
I don't have credit card! So no problem lor!
War...you and jam they all really love to travel huh! I wish I can too...but I have a family to take care so I can't go anywhere right now. :D
you called that a SHORT NOTE??!?!?!
haha!!!! wish i could join you but i have to work. sorry man! but it's always my dream to backpack. not the right time now i think =)
should you find a new traveling partner, good luck to you! =D
Haha! surprised to know you're new to facebook. welcome!! haha!
PS, added photos for Halloween. you might like it. =P

kenwooi.com
wah, so nice wanna go holiday. Why about the same time as this year's holiday?
Tempted to go with you guys, but as I sleep in buff, susahlah to share room with Foong. LOL I bet he wouldn't mind if a Nicole Kidman look-alike join him. *wink wink*
Crappy thing about the RM50 service tax. I have about 10 credit cards. OMG!!! Better start calling the banks to ask them to absorb.
But I think the banks more "sayang" the bad paymaster and those paying the min amount only because these people are the ones who made the banks richer by incurring high interests to their cards. Good paymaster don't give the banks extra income. Right or nor?
I'm also going to siem reap in 2010 but it's january. hehe... sorry can't join you!
I wonder how the bank going to help me this time, si liau. But I think 100 for a year for my 2 cards is still ok because I dont pay for the gate and guard. Hahaha
wow..u r such a happy go lucky person..
i do FB :) but i am very seldom there since i use my little time to blog instead, i think i enjoy blogging more than FB :)
Sorry my maths sucks did not listen to my mom's warning ate too much fish eggs. Is this korek, presume there are 12million card holders x RM50 whoa gomen 'richer' by a RM600m yearly???Say half [POTONG-ed]cancelled the credit cards still RM300m yearly..!!
@CheahS@n,
maybe Gomen need all that money because all the wastage they spent on payment for contracts and projects that were inflated.
i'd love to visit Cambodia someday but definitely with my special someone. hope you'll find a great companion to join u.
believe it or not, i haven't join FB. i've little time to do it.
reanaclaire, thanks for the compliment! Glad you like my style of writing. Congrats for being FC here for the second time! : )
chrisau, thanks for dropping by! : )
SK, first time and last time? I have a friend who went there and said the same thing too. Well, I'll go there and enjoy my first time! : )
Wash away the dust in Redang? Haha! Will decide on that!
Thanks for adding me on FB! : )
Cancel all your credit cards? Maybe you should retain one card. You want to go totally cardless?
dolly, yeah, not fair to us credit card holders, especially for us who have only one card!
need help marketing..., thanks for dropping by : )
khengsiong, yes I have traveled alone before and it's quite fun! : )
shingo T, so you are the snoring King? How your wife take it? haha!
Yes, I'm very busy and friends have to book me in advance for a holiday. LOL!
willie, yeah I'm still single! Yay! : )
happysurfer, I like to plan early because I'm always busy and so cannot go holiday last minute : )
I have a friend who also said the same as SK - go once enough. Well, I guess I will try and enjoy my first and last time there! : )
Let's wait and see how this credit card tax issue be resolved : )
@lina korek korek korek, just saw the news on Star headlines our PM says "tunggulah dulu" (we wait first) so we slow slow wait? Tax imposed in 1997 then abolished 2001. Heard of 7th year itch but some delayed action it's coming back on again in 2010 after 9 years hehe..:(
manglish, haha! Sorry my friend, I'm NOT offering an all expenses paid trip! LOL!
cheahs@n, haha, definitely good to time your pregnancy to get free flight for life. So you going to "potong" all your cards?
Hi Foong, planning ahead also allows you to read up and collect info on the place. Happy researching then..
There is so much negative feedback on the 5% govt tax, let's hope something good comes out of it.
jam, how can you dump your friend for a girl? You disloyal b*****d! Haha, juz kidding!
You want to go Bangkok instead of Redang? Why? I think I prefer Koh Samui. Cos have been to BKK a few times already. Or maybe Chiengmai? But you know what, maybe I'll follow you to Redang if you still want to go there! : )
mei teng, haha, I didn't say must look like Christy Yow! : )
I always ask the bank to waive my annual fee or I threaten to switch card! But I don't think we can ask them to waive the RM50 card tax right? Or maybe we can! ; )
lawstude, oh you'll be going Cambodia early next year? Too bad, if not maybe we can meet up!
annant,no $$$? Go and work part time lah : )
mariuca, haha! Thanks for adding me in FB! : )
xin, no I am not sharing a room with Jam cos he is sharing with his friend. That's why I'm looking for a travel partner to share my room : )
ladyviral, I guess people are always curious to see the person behind your blog.
The budget of the whole trip? Actually haven't really calculate, but it should not be more than RM1,500, I think.
No don't need big bag, haha! Our version of backpacking is still same as normal travel with luggage kept in the hotel/hostel but carry a small backpack when we go out. We're not doing the hardcore backpacking stuffs : )
becklee, yeah better cancel - no point paying the RM50! It's absurd to pay RM500 just because you have 10 cards!
tekkaus, no have not consulted my feng shui master yet. Haha! I wonder if there's any point in consulting him since I totally ignored his advice the last time before I went China.
Well, actually I think I may just join Jam and his friend in Redang, but now I think he has changed his mind - might go Bangkok instead!
Thanks for adding me to FB! Yeah, can know more and more about you now : )
No credit card, not even a single one? Wow! So you plan to go cardless forever? Also good, no need to waste RM50 on the ridiculous tax! : )
AL, haha, I tried to keep it short, but I guess I failed!
Thanks for adding me to FB! Yeah, I a total noob!
bluedreamer27, visited your blog - love the new layout! And thanks for making Mariah Carey the theme for November! Will bookmark your blog, haha! : )
Will not POTONG all at least keep two credit cards, poor people like me need the plastic to "roll". To the rich cash is king to the poor plastic is queen.
kenwooi, thanks for adding me on FB! : )
lina, don't ask me why. The timing is all up to Jam! I can go anytime as long as you book me in advance : )
Nicole Kidman? haha, she's totally welcome to join me! LOL!
Wow! 10 credit cards! Have to pay RM500 tax! Better potong, potong fast! Haha. Yeah, the banks always sayang those who are not good paymasters. That's why they don't sayang me ; )
eiling, what, you going to Siem Reap in Jan? Too bad lah, if not you can share room with me. Haha!
molly, you don't pay for the security guards? Aiya, you should support and pay up! And reduce your cards to one! : )
wenn, I am a happy go lucky person? Not really lah, why you said that? Just because I go traveling? I am actually a happy person - on that you got it right : )
betchai, yeah me too - I enjoy blogging more than FB that's why I never wanted to go on it but I guess I will try it out and see : )
cheahs@n, yeah still Rm300 million annually!
lina, yeah that's one of the reasons! : )
life ramblings, it's good to go traveling with your special someone. But it's also good to travel alone - I guess they are both different experiences!
Not on FB? Yeah, it'll take up my time too - I guess I will have to make the time : )
cheahs@n, I hope we don't have to wait for too long! 7 years itch will be a very suffering itch! 1 minute I also cannot tahan, haha!
happysurfer, yeah can do research and better planning - you are absolutely right! : )
cheahs@n, OK keep 2 cards good enough. For me, 1 already good enough : )
LOL at your snoring part! :P As for the credit card tax, I'm pretty sure the banks would absorb or they would suffer from sales drop!
I commented earlier: There is so much negative feedback on the 5% govt tax, let's hope something good comes out of it.
Gosh! I said 5% which should have been RM50. Oops! My bad.
Latest on The Star, and I quote:
Najib had earlier pointed out that the public should look at the overall benefits offered by the Government in the Budget, including an additional RM1,000 tax relief and a reduction at the top of the taxable income tier from 27% to 26%.
“So they get two (relief measures) and only have to pay RM50 (per credit card). Don’t tell me they cannot pay RM50?’’ he said.
Interesting..
Hahaha you're funny Foong. I hope this time you get a travel partner. Female one ya.
It hurts to read our PM saying this "Don’t tell me they cannot pay RM50?" :(
Why cannot take picture on you de meh?
have a fun and safe trip, i hope you do enjoy the backpacking trip.
foong, is this only open for a person, or 2 persons are allowed? :)
btw, i think people won't use credit card anymore and for sure will close the account too. i don't think this is the best way :)
wahh u're planning way in advance Foong! :-D
I've never tried backpacking before :-P
I'm not addicted to FB I hardly log into my acc lol...
another travel plan and now with a partner!
I'll check out your facebook foong =)
have a great week ahead!
Very soon all plastics would be restructured and to be named "Flatinum" or "Fold" card respectively.
iamthewitch, I hope the banks will absorb it, but won't that defeats the purpose of the Government to impose the RM50 tax?
happysurfer, haha! Yes, it should be RM50 and not 5%! No wonder I was like a bit confused reading your comments! Haha!
Hmmm, what Najib said is also true, overall we are paying less tax even if we pay the RM50! Didn't really thought of that!
che-cheh, I hope I will get a travel partner too! Doesn't matter male or female as long as can share my room expenses! Haha! But none is forthcoming : (
keeyit, haha, I am a very private person and would prefer not to have my pictures online : )
betchai, thanks, I will though it's still 8 months away! : )
faisal admar, this is open to one person only - the idea is to find someone to share a room with me. But of course, if you have a friend who wants to join us, then you both can join us but you both will stay in another room, while poor me will be staying alone in one room! : (
Yeah, most people will cancel their credit cards!
monica, yeah I need early planning for my holidays! Never backpacked before? Try it once?
So you are not active in FB? Well, I'm just trying it out. I actually prefer blogging but FB does help to promote my blog too, I think : )
ayie, thanks for checking out my FB! I think I have added you! : )
cheahs@n, haha! : )
eh.. on second thought, i am perfect candidate wor..
but too bad, i already book ticket to hong kong next year.
hahaha..
oh yeah you did =P
donna, going Hong Kong? I feel like going too! : (
Hong Kong is the best! It will be my next destination after Siem Reap!
