And so when my friend asked me if I wanted to go up to Genting Highlands, I was all for it! In fact, I was so happy he asked as I wanted to get away from all this heat!
He actually texted me on my handphone the night before. The sms messages went something like this. I shall call my friend Ed.
Ed : Are u interested for a trip to Genting tomorrow?
Me : Tomorrow? What to do there?
Ed : Hang out, makan and etc.
Me : Ok, sure. U drive?
Ed : You mind if we try take the bus? If can't get ticket then drive.
Me : Can also. Have not tried taking a bus to Genting!
Ed : Will call u later to discuss.
So he called me up later and we decided to start our journey from 1Utama bus station at 11am the next day. I thought it would be fun going to Genting in a bus as normally I go in a car. The bus would drop us at the cable car station midway where we would be taking the cable car ride up to Genting. For your information, I had not sat in that cable car for more than 10 years already, I think! So I was all eager to go!
The next day, which happened to be the second day of Chinese New Year, Ed drove over to my house at 10am to fetch me to 1Utama. After parking his car in 1Utama, we went to the ticket counter to enquire about the tickets.
Imagine our shock when we were told that the only available tickets were for the 12.30pm bus and for return journey, only 4pm bus was available. All others were sold out! It would be pointless to sit the 12.30pm bus to Genting and return on the 4pm bus!
So we decided to drive there instead.

The changing...
Mr first? Very short post indeed, new year new layout, new style short & swift? haha
Wah! Went gambling in Genting on CNY is it? XD
The last time we took at bus to Genting hmmmm let me recollect sorry RAM not working can't retrieve memory those days running on Pentium 486.
How many parts is this going to be? XD
And how come the post so short one? Not used to it, lah... LOL
The last time I took a bus to Genting was before Raimie was born. Took my sisters there and got on a bus from LRT Gombak station. My, that was such a long time ago.
You brought your laptop and changed your layout at Genting? It can't be!!!! Or too bored went in cybercafe to change. We shall wait for Part II patiently..
You gamble there ah? Follow the fengshui rule ah? How much you win hah?
How many parts are there?
bananaz, actually this post is not supposed to come out yet! I wrote it and forgotten I set the date to be published! This morning was shocked that the post already out!!! And you all commented already! Guess it's one of my shortest post ever haha!!
i pun nak go genting T_T huhu~~ ahahahaha but argh.. i'll never drive thr.. all the winding and swirling and twirlin =.= Pengsan~
gong hei gong hei~
lina, did not intend to go gambling, then almost went gambling, but something happened ended up only my friend went. I stayed back at Starbucks to do some blogging, haha!!
This post not ready yet, only halfway. I forgot I already set the time and date to be published. Haha! That's why so short!
So looks like it's going to be more than 2 parts. LOL!
bananaz & lina, wah! You both so long didn't take a bus to Genting? Or so long didn't go up Genting? Well, at least you both have taken a bus there. I have yet to try it! Maybe next round : )
molly, unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) I did not get to gamble. Will post the story about why I didn't get to gamble in Part 2 or Part 3 : )
cloudia, aloha! : )
kelvin, haha I think only 3 parts. Supposed to be 2 parts only, but made a blunder by publishing this Part 1 without completing it! : )
aaronng88, Genting road quite easy and pleasant to drive lah! Try driving there. Driving up Cameron Highlands is much harder - more swirling and turning. haha!
@foong,
the road definitely much easier than to CH.
We used to drive to Genting quite often because my company has an apartment at Awana, but haven't been there for quite a while.
Maybe have to arrange to go there again someday. :)
War...it's been a while since I last went to Genting bro. :)
The last time I went there, it was when I was 16 years old. Time flies. Aww....I wonder when I can go there again?
Hahaha :D Yeah...going up at 12.30pm and come down again after 3 hours is pointless. :p
Hmm...maybe 1 day I should drive too.
i would love a spend a night there! hvn't been there for quite some time.
hmmm... nice layout but the profile piccie still the same old Fook Wah... why not change to your face ?
Changing of your template got something to do with the Gentings trip? You must be pretty bored up there then.. or maybe Datuk Lim has something to do with this :)
first, i am not believe that KL so hot... a lot blogger say that very hot weather... when i come back here KL - i feel very hot compare to kuching - raining everyday
i think drive car there better take a bus...
er... how u change the layout in genting... you never mention at this post..
I'd rather have a hot CNY than a cold, foggy one. It is COLD in San Francisco. If it's hot now, wonder how hot it would for you guys in the summer? Erm...our summer is also cold and foggy. Probably hot a few days in a month. That's how bad our weather system is here. :(
nothing to do with blog layout also.. haha.. but i wanna go genting too! =P
kenwooi.com
Nice new layout. Wah, Genting must be packed with visitors....win big?
Oops your entry missed the jump? No wonder it so short. Despite changing the layout, header and color of your blog still not able to "break" the fengshui that's why you didnt gamble? haha
All went up there to 'huat'
Aiyak why so short one! Makes us feeling suspense only! Faster continue part2! :P
Wow! This showed Genting was flocked with people that time
I was expecting more..and then your story ended abruptly. Such a short post??
I am sure lots of people flocked to Genting in this kind of weather...and especially more so during CNY.
Spending CNY up in Genting would be quite nice, I think so. Am waiting the 2nd part!
I like the new layout. It seems wider and brighter :o)
Genting Highlands is an-hour drive from 1Utama. Really no point taking bus...
lina, oh you used to go Genting often? How nice! So no ghost stories to tell about Genting? Haha
tekkaus, yeah, you should go visit Genting one of these days, and try driving there. It's quite nice to drive up actually : )
wenn, you should go and spend a night there! : )
TZ, change to my face? Haha, no way! Btw, when are we meeting up? : )
reanaclaire, no actually not bored, but already planned to change my layout before I went to Genting. But I thought my friend could help me out so that's why I brought my laptop up there, haha!
Datuk Lim definitely has nothing to do with this. Don't scare me! LOL!
CH Voon, Kuching raining everyday? How nice!! It's hot as hell here in KL : (
Drive to Genting is nice, but I wanted to try the cable car after not sitting in it for more than 10 years!
How I change my layout? Of course not telling yet - this is just Part 1. Haha! : )
I like short posts so this post works fine for me. hehe..
Though I've not taken the bus but I think it's great to relax going up there for a change. Only thing is, you are constrained by the coming down timing and some people are freaked out by the cable car ride.
rose belle, wow your weather in San Francisco is cold the whole year round? I like it to be cold and foggy actually - that's the weather in Genting Highlands!
But I guess I wouldn't want that 365 days a year, haha! So I guess we should just appreciate whatever weather we have and not think the grass is greener on the other side : )
I haven't been up there for a while so I suppose I'm due for a visit. I love the place for the holiday ambience - eating, shopping, simply taking it easy. Do you too?
kenwooi, oh it has something to do with blog layout, just not in Part 1. Be patient. Haha : )
Hey, you are online! Cool! Hello, Foong. Goofing off some, eh? hehe..
pete, yes, it's packed at the cable cars, but not that packed up there actually. Well, still tolerable to me, haha.
Win? No, I didn't get to go casino and gamble - will let you know why in the next few posts : )
I'm not done yet about Gentings but soon.. A bus ride is really inexpensive and convenient. Now I'm done. Have a great day ahead, Foong.
cheahs@n, haha changing the layout has nothing to do with feng shui : )
chrisau, haha : )
iamthewitch, actually not meant to be this short! Set the date to be published and forgot all about it! Haha!
borneo falcon, yes, not advisable to go Genting during public holidays!
mei teng, haha not my intention nor my character to write such short post, but as explained in my earlier comments, I set the date to be published and had not finished writing this post yet, but forgotten all about it! Then people already started commenting so I could not remove the post! LOL!
Yeah, lots of people going to Genting to escape the hot weather! : )
jam, yes it's quite nice if you don't mind the crowd! Part 2 coming up soon : )
ai shiang, yeah I like it too. It's in fact wider and brighter : )
khengsiong, well I wanted to experience taking a bus to Genting cos all the time I went there in a car.
happysurfer, so this short post is just nice for you? Haha! Enjoy while you can cos it's not my intention to write such short posts! LOL!
Yes, I agree taking a bus for a change is good, but you have to follow the time constraints so that's one of the disadvantages, I guess.
Yeah, I love eating and shopping at Genting in the cool weather. It's my kind of relaxing holiday! So you like that too? Haha!
Haha, yes I am online now, so I can see your comments keep alternating with mine. LOL! You have a great day too! : )
Chinese New Year = Gambling.
Gambling = Casino
Casino = Genting Highlands
Proved.
shingo T, so based on your formula, can I conclude that Chinese New Year = Genting Highlands? Haha!
U went to Genting on the second day of CNY? Whoa.. I dare not even think about it.. I thought the crowd will be super mad... But then.. I thought the crowd will be super mad ALL the time which explains why I've not been to genting in a long long time.. how's the toilet there? lol... *private joke*
merryn, haha! The toilet there is horrible but depends on which hotel toilet you go to lah! : D
Luckily I never thought about the crowd or I would have turned down my friend's invitation to go Genting! But it was actually not that crowded, still OK, but wait till you see the long queue at the cable car in my next post! : )
