So after landing at the Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar at approximately 12.30pm, and checking in at the Harmony Hotel in Seminyak, which was just 20 minutes away from the airport, my friend and I went to Ketupat Restaurant at Legian Street in Kuta for lunch.
Three more friends would be joining us later for this Bali trip, but in the meantime, there were only two of us. Luckily, my friend had been to Bali numerous times and he knew exactly where good food can be found!
I liked the ambience immediately upon my first sight of the restaurant. It had a nice setting with seatings around a swimming pool!
This tall tray of fruits greeted me at the entrance of the restaurant!
Let me magnify it a little.
The interior was charming and nice.
But we chose to sit at the corridor next to the swimming pool.
From where I sat, I took some photos of the surroundings.
What is this long tube hanging from the ceiling?
Oh! It's a lamp! There's a bulb inside.
Before we ordered, this was placed on our table.
What was that? I opened the lid to reveal....crackers!
I loved the crackers! They made nice appetizers!
Since it was a hot day, we ordered our drinks first. My friend ordered lemon ice tea while I went for their special summer tea, which was a combination of tea with passion and lime juice.
What a thirst quenching drink! Nice!
We then ordered nasi campur.
Nasi campur literally means mixed rice. It is made up of white rice in the middle and an assortment of meat, eggs and vegetables surrounding the rice served with Indonesian curries - truly the best way to taste Balinese and Indonesian cuisine!
Next we ordered the sate ayam (chicken satay).
And since we had huge appetites, we ordered one more dish - the wajan sawah.
I don't know how to call this dish in English but it's actually a mixture of fried rice with sweet corn, green peas, soy bean sprout and coconut, served with Balinese fried duck (known as bebek goreng), quail eggs (telur puyuh), shrimps (tempe udang), spicy eggplants (terung Belada), crackers (keripik sawi) and Balinese curry (sambal).
Do you think we ordered too much just for the two of us?
But we finished every bits and pieces of the food in front of us! Haha! It was delicious!!
The bill came up to 262,200 rupiah (RM94) inclusive of 10% government tax and 5% service charge. Slightly pricey but worth every cent in my opinion!
I would definitely visit Ketupat again if I ever go to Bali in the future!
For more information, you might want to visit Ketupat website.

Wow...you friends have been to Bali many times and know where are those good "foods"? :p You are so lucky to have a tourist guide.
The interior has this classic look. LIke Mexican style. :D
Ouh...that long tube is a lamp? I thought it is for birds to hide inside.
War....the tudung saji is very creative o. My 1st time seeing such a special food "cover". :p

Combo of passion fruit and lime? Wow...must be very good right. :D

I agreed that the nasi campur is the best way to taste Balinese cuisine. :p
Ouh...there also have satay?
Wajanb Sawah? What a name...but the presentation is a little gory ler. It's like someone was just murdered and this is butchered meat. Arrgghhh.....
Hmm...must be very spicy right?
War....2 person RM94? Plus 10% government tax? and the only 5% service tax?
Yeah....I can say it is very worth-it o.

(courtesy of Tekkaus, and Sk) haha
There's a popular dish that they you must eat while in Bali...and of course for pork lovers only...Babi Guling. Did you try this dish?

no wonder you're so fat
very nice..love it, hope i can visit soon..:)
The satay there is slurps^^
wow, nice food!
I love the use of banana leaves as bowls! Very unique.
I love the ambience of the restaurant! Looks very relaxing and quiet. But why so empty one? Maybe it's considered high class restaurant in Bali, heck, it's considered expensive even to me. :P
Wah... What a lovely place to have a meal.
BTW, are the fruits really arranged that way? Did you have the urge to just take 1 out & see if it all falls down? Kekeke
monica, congrats you are FC today! : )
mariuca, 2 FCs? Haha! No I don't want to start 2FCs cos later it will become 3 FCs then 4, then 5! LOL!
You just missed FC by a few seconds probably! Haha!
Yes, very nice food here : )
tekkaus, better believe it! Haha!!
monica, yes food looks as good as the taste! : )
tekkaus, virgin means first time lah! Haha!
Yeah, it's good to have a friend who can double up as a tourist guide!
The long tube for birds to hide inside? For what? LOL!
I am going Bali again next time, so you want to tag along? : )
caroline ng, yes supposed to be ice lemon tea, but I just followed what is printed on the receipt. haha!
No the fruits are not real. Won't fall down! Haha!
Millionaire also cannot simply spend right? : )
cashmere, so you are going Bali too?
annant, yes the ambience is nice : )
bluedreamer27, wow! You are a fruit expert? LOL! I am not, so not sure you got the names correct or not! Haha!
Like a baseball bat? You mean the tube? Haha!
Actually the dishes are not really spicy, well at least not to me : )
Yes, you are turning into a spammer just like SK, and you know what? I love it! : )
mei teng, yes I tried Babi Guling - absolutely delicious!! Ate that at the most famous babi guling restaurant at Ibu Oka in Ubud : )
khengsiong, no it's a restaurant on its own : )
lina, yes big feast, but moderate by my standards. Haha!!
anonymous, me fat? haha! I'm definitely NOT fat : )
manglish, so you are going Bali soon? : )
kelvin, the satay is OK, but Malaysian satay just as good : )
wenn, yes, yummy! : )
day-dreamer, definitely a nice place to dine : )
che-cheh, yes it's unique : )
iamthewitch, don't know why so empty, maybe it's fuller during dinner time? I don't think it's that expensive actually : )
angie tan, I did not touch the fruits! Don't want to create a fruits avalanche scene! Haha! But I think the fruits were stuck to each other : )
hey, finally your Bali trip post huh.. hmmm, from what i can read in your very first post, i can sense that you'll have 20 posts on your Bali trip and will only put an end 6 months later.. hahahaha!!
wah, how many times have your friend been to Bali?? more than 3 times?? he must have loved Bali so much..
yeah, i gotta agree it's a nice place to go.. the last time i went was 6-7 years ago, a whole gang of 12 ex-classmates of us.. that was really a fun time..
that is really a nice restaurant, the atmosphere is nice, and the interior looks nice too.. no wonder your bill came out to be a little pricey.. but worth it you said..
hmmm, you just ordered the summer fruit tea?? have you tried their apokat (i.e. avocado juice with chocolate syrup)?? this is the first thing i will remember about Bali, hahaha~~ i miss that nice drink so much.. :p
hey, that tray of fruits, are they real fruits of just deco?? but the whole stack looks like it's going to fall down.. ooopsss, so dangerous i'll never walk near :p
the knitted lid looks very special, haha, i thot it was the cover for your main dishes.. so the crackers for appertiser is complimentary and free flow??
aiyoyo, the food looks so nice leh.. and furthermore this is dinner time and i am starving!! you so bad lah foong..
looks like the portion is very huge.. that nasi campur is for one person or two person?? if both of you shared, then i think it's quite ok lah.. but if you finished that all by your own, then ~~~~~ @_@"
the satay looks a bit different from our version, i don't see any parts burnt in there?? and the skewer looks so lean.. so are they nice??
oh my!! the bebek, it's the bebek!! one of the famous dish in Bali.. very nice, and i love it.. somemore with the spicy eggplants, i think this is sure very tasty!! this would be my choice rather than the nasi campur actually..
haha, the bill looks ok lah, at least not yet millions!! hahaha.. i remember when i was there, we have a total of 12 of us in the group, there was once we dine in Jimbaran, the bill was really in 7 figures!! so interesting.. :D
wow baliiiiiiiiiiiiii
i gotta go there again with you friend!!! hahahha
a bit look like kampung.
rm94... it is bit expensive.
anyhow, the main things is enjoy hehehe money nia mah...
The nasi campur is served so nicely on banana leaves and little mini leaves lagi.. looks very nice.
the fruit deco looks really interesting.. haha.. wonder how they do it.. and the interior design.. looks very relaxing and beachy.. haha.. as for the food, just makan la! =P

Happy Belated Easter!
Yes Foongpc!
Im going Bali in July nd it's gonna be my maiden trip there.. heheh! :D
those fruits aren't real right?
But the food looks heavenly. and the way they serve is exquisite, oh so balinese.
I love indonesian food, they're so similar with our malaysian kampung food.
hi foong... ghheeh i guess you're right, i think i am on the track again....
you love me spamming you hahaha.... gheeh well i do my best to spam you.. i will now be your loyal spammer!
Love the first picture. The place looks like a huge villa with a swimming pool by the side - nice ambience.
That fruit platter is interesting - not real fruits, right? Some of them look too shiny to be real. What are the fruits below the bananas? Mini pineapples?
Like SK, I too wondered about that nasi campur. If it was for one (person) then it could be too much plus the other dishes. That duck dish looks delicious, btw.
I guess for the amount of food, it's considered OK. :) Btw, foong! How come you never visit my blog dy! *sob* :(((
wah...nice bali food pics...i cant wait to go back to bali again this coming May.
aiyah....if u put me as introducer, u can get cash rebate from me for the iPhone...sigh sigh...
Wow, that is one wicked Restaurant! It's like making you feel so much at home!
Wow, eveything looks so yummy! I am especially intrigued by Nasi Campur! So much assortment, thanks for sharing! You ordered extra rice, then?
If converted to my currency, yes, it is pricey! But you get to split the bill so it's still reasonable.
Such a spacious restaurant! Looking at the yummy dishes, I would like to eat here too.
sate!!
hi foong just visiting you here again
have a great day and happy blogging
what a lovely place!
the food presentation all the way to decors and everything around it is just so nice..
btw i love balinese architecture...
wah your virgin trip to bali?!! haha... ok la not bad. I love the bebek bengil there!
Nice peaceful place to have a meal!
The other time we went to Bali, we find the food there sucks. Our M'sian malay food better at anytime. Maybe we are not familiar with the place and end up at the not-so-tasty-food restaurants. haha.. but yours.....looks so yummy.
just visiting you here again foong have a great day and happy blogging
SK, 20 posts on Bali? Haha! Maybe, maybe not! : )
My friend have been to Bali more than 4 times I think! Yes, he loves Bali!
So you went there 7 years ago? Time for a re-visit! : )
No I did not order apokat! Didn't know there's such a drink! Never mind, will make sure I try this drink the next time I go there! Is this drink found in any restaurant or only selected restaurants?
The tray of fruits are not real fruits, haha! Don't worry it won't fall, haha!
Yes the crackers were complimentary, but no, it was not free flow.
The nasi campur is for one person, although some people may think it's too much.
The satay was OK, but I think I still prefer Malaysian satay : )
Yes, the bebek was nice! : )
I guess the bill was not too expensive, just slightly more than what I expected.
fufu, Let's go together when you return to Malaysia! : )
CH Voon, kampung ambience is nice right? Slightly expensive, but it's OK for me : )
merryn, it tastes as good as it looks : )
kenwooi, no idea! Yes, the interior is nice and the food is nice too! : )

halfcrazy, no didn't order any extra rice! Would be too full if I were to do so. The price is OK since I split the bill with my friend : )
